České Budějovice (Budweis)

This is Czech second-best-beer-city after Plzeň (Pilsen). That means, local beer is considered second best known of all Czech beers; the name Budweiser is a subject of a long dispute between the local beer producer Budvar and Anheuser-Busch which owns the Budweiser brand in the US but not in Europe; as of today, the US Budweiser is marketed in Europe as Bud. Reciprocally, the Czech Budweiser Budvar is marketed in the United States as Czechvar. Considering that Budweis is a historical German name of the city and the beer has been brewed here since 13th century, it is obvious who is right in this dispute. And the beer is so much better here… Only Anheuser-Busch is the biggest brewery chain in the world and they have the best lawyers.
